Lancashire’s Public Health team were welcomed to The Park to film the centre’s well attended One Stop Shop. The purpose was to capture best practice which will then be shared with Wellbeing, Prevention and Early Help colleagues across the County.
Established in 2014, the service uniquely brings together Health Visiting and Children’s Centre staff alongside other agencies to provide a One Stop Shop for local families with young children. The drop in sessions serve as a baby clinic, but with a range of additional support – family support, infant feeding with specialist breastfeeding support, play and learning, as well as, advice and guidance. Since its beginnings the service has grown and developed to be a valuable resource for not only families in Hyndburn but across the County. Sessions are always well attended; in excess of seventy people enjoy coming along each week to enjoy free access to the well-resourced play rooms, Space Centre sensory play space and to access the range of support available.
The Park Child & Family Centre are delighted that the One Stop Shop has been recognised as effective in its support to families in Hyndburn and across the County and that the service has been chosen as an example of good practice as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening local services.
